Good Morning and AAAAAAAHHHHHHH

Alright, 5am. Five hours of sleep. At least I slept… (nervous laughter). It’s about three hours until I’m at the terminus. I have TRIPPLE checked everything. Am I ready though?

A year ago, I was obsessing over YouTube docuseries on different people’s PCT adventures. A couple months ago, I was deciding what gear would be best for me. A couple weeks ago I was in the gym, increasing my weight to prepare my legs for what Lowa (the classic backpacking boot brand) calls, “Longer Trails and Heavier Loads!” A couple days ago, I was watercoloring with a dear friend of mine (Hi Melinda, if you’re reading this, BREAK ALL YOUR LEGS in your competition! I love you girl!). A few hours ago I was driving all around Carlsbad trying to find Isobutane… found some (Big 5 and Walmart, just like the Facebook comments had said). A couple minutes ago I was peeing on a toilet for the last time in at least two days. Now I sit here and write this last post before I get my boots in the mud… yes mud. It’s supposed to rain the first two days, so really it’s more like I’m starting at home!

I have been crying a lot over the realization of it all. A year ago, I was fully prepared to drop everything and unpreparedly jump on the trail. Now I have a home that I’ve been in for a while, a puppy who just turned a year old and a boyfriend who makes me laugh everyday! That’s hard to leave. I had a job that I liked, coworkers I liked even more (Hey everyone! You’re going to crush it out here David! I hope I see you out here at some point!). It's HARD to leave what is comfortable and regular and routine. BUT I’M SO EXCITED!

SIDEBAR: Oh GOD, Jaason just put on Gregory (referenced in a previous blog post, “Happy Holidays?”)... cue the tears AGAIN.

Honestly, at this point, I’m just procrastinating. I’ll get out of bed now, which means I probably won’t update again until I’ve been walking for a few days. So wish me luck and tell me your funniest jokes!

ONWARD AND ONWARD!

P.S. Thank you so incredibly much to everyone who has donated towards this hike! I love and appreciate each and every one of you! You are awesome!

P.P.S. T-Shirts are still available! If you want one, visit my donate page!
